The experience does not stop at your room door. Step outside and you will find peaceful gardens, open lawns, picnic and barbecue areas, a children’s playground, and our friendly alpacas and sheep. There is space to sit with a coffee, read a book, let the children play or simply enjoy a little quiet at the end of the day.

It feels open and peaceful without being isolated. Rotorua’s city centre and many of its most popular attractions are only a short drive away, making Hideaway a convenient base for holidays, business travel, events and longer stays.

Ten Years of Care — and Still Growing

Hideaway of Rotorua did not become what it is today overnight.

For the past ten years, our family has cared for and developed this property one step at a time. The journey has not always been easy. There have been long days, challenges, difficult decisions and plenty learned along the way, but we have never stopped looking for ways to move forward.

Year after year, we have continued to reinvest in the property, improve the rooms, upgrade the facilities and make the overall guest experience better. Some of those changes are immediately visible, especially our newly built Deluxe Rooms. Others can be found in the quieter details: the way the grounds are cared for, the comfort of each room, the ease of arrival and the practical things that make travelling a little simpler.

For us, Hideaway has never been simply a business that we operate from a distance. This is our own place, and we have been personally involved in every stage of its development.

A great deal of time, thought and heart has gone into making Hideaway what it is today. We are proud of how far it has come, but we are not finished. We are still investing, still improving and still thinking about what we can do next.

Not every guest comes to Rotorua for the same reason, and not everyone wants the same kind of stay.

Couples may be looking for a peaceful weekend away, a comfortable Deluxe King Studio and somewhere quiet to return to after exploring Rotorua.

Business travellers often appreciate being close to the city while having free unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi, convenient parking, a full kitchen and a private entrance. After a long day of work, meetings or travelling, Hideaway offers somewhere calm to prepare a meal, catch up on work or simply switch off for the evening.

Families can choose from several spacious room layouts, including accommodation for up to six guests. Outside the room, children have space to play, explore the grounds and meet the animals, while parents can relax nearby.

Groups, contractors, sporting guests and longer-stay travellers also benefit from our flexible room options, practical facilities and generous on-site parking. Corporate and group accommodation enquiries are always welcome.

Our newly built Deluxe Rooms represent an exciting new chapter for Hideaway.

Bright, spacious and modern, they have been thoughtfully designed with fresh interiors, generous layouts and a calm, comfortable atmosphere. They offer a more refined accommodation experience while retaining the privacy and independence that our guests value.

Guests can choose from Deluxe King Studios, Deluxe Triple Studios, Accessible Triple Studios, and Deluxe Family Rooms for up to four or five guests.

Every Deluxe Room includes a private entrance, private bathroom and full kitchen, as well as air conditioning, a Smart TV and a private outdoor area. Whether you are staying as a couple, travelling for work or bringing the family, the Deluxe Rooms provide a fresh and inviting space in which to settle in and unwind.

Our Deluxe Rooms are kept pet-free.

Comfortable Classic Rooms Offering Great Value

For guests looking for a comfortable, practical and more affordable way to stay, our Classic Rooms remain a welcoming choice.

They are fully self-contained and available in several layouts, from studios to larger family accommodation for up to six guests. Every Classic Room has its own private entrance, private bathroom and full kitchen, giving guests the convenience and independence to enjoy their stay in their own way.

All Classic Rooms are pet-friendly, so guests travelling with a dog can choose the Classic Room that best suits their needs. Our Deluxe Rooms are not pet-friendly, allowing guests to select the accommodation style that is right for them.

The Classic Rooms are particularly well suited to families, longer stays, work trips and travellers who value comfort, space and good value.

More Than Somewhere to Sleep

Many guests are surprised by how much outdoor space there is at Hideaway.

Around the property, there are lawns and gardens to enjoy, places to sit quietly, a children’s playground, and outdoor barbecue and picnic facilities. Couples can enjoy a relaxed walk through the grounds, families have space beyond the room, and business guests can return from a busy day to somewhere that feels calm and uncrowded.

Our friendly resident alpacas and sheep are also a special part of Hideaway. Each room receives a complimentary bag of alpaca feed at check-in, giving guests an opportunity to meet them a little more closely.

Children often make a beeline for the animals, although we have found that plenty of adults enjoy the experience just as much. These simple and unexpected moments are part of what gives Hideaway its own character.

We understand that the practical details can make a real difference to how relaxed a stay feels.

Every room has a full kitchen, so guests can prepare breakfast, make a familiar meal for the children or enjoy a quiet evening without needing to eat out. Private entrances allow guests to come and go at their own pace, while free unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi makes it easy to work, plan the next day or stay connected.

Free on-site parking is available, with parking conveniently located near the rooms. Our large car park can also accommodate trailers, boats, campervans and other larger vehicles by prior arrangement.

Storage is available for bicycles and sporting equipment, and guests also have access to an on-site laundry. These facilities make Hideaway a practical choice for longer visits, business stays, sporting events and guests travelling with additional equipment.

Close to the Best of Rotorua

Hideaway is conveniently located near several of Rotorua’s most popular attractions, including Skyline Rotorua, Mitai Māori Village, ZORB and Agrodome.

The city centre, lakefront, restaurants, geothermal experiences and other Rotorua attractions are also within easy driving distance. Business travellers can reach appointments and meetings around the city conveniently, while holiday guests can spend less time travelling and more time enjoying Rotorua.

At the end of the day, you can leave the busier parts of the city behind and return to open lawns, peaceful gardens and a private space of your own.
